Welcome back all my new first grade friends and parents.
Hope you had a great summer and are ready to learn!

One week down, many more to come!
This week we have been doing character training. Monday we had a lesson from the crayons that we are all unique and special. Tuesday, we crafted a pair of scissors and learned not to say "cutting " words to our friends. On Wednesday, we promised to "stick" to the rules and made a bottle of glue. Thursday, we made highlighters that reminded us that we are "bright" students. The students had a fantastic time making our crafts and on Friday we made a backpack to store all our items.
August 21, 2017 was a day in the history books. These bright young faces played it safe with our adorable piggy face shields and solar glasses.
The students had a terrific time at the fairgrounds. They loved seeing all of the animals and getting to pet them. Thanks to all the parents and helpers who came and helped us.
Homecoming spirit week was so fun. I really enjoy seeing the students participate and I love to dress up too.
The first 9 weeks is almost over. The students are reading up a storm! They are super excited about the first reading reward. Those students who have their 25 book points will get to go to the park on October 19th. Yeah! Keep reading!
Last week was fire prevention week and the students had a blast walking down to the fire department. They learned more about what to do incase of a fire, were able to explore a fire truck, and hold on tight to a fire hose!
