Youth suicide in our state is a major public health problem. Suicide is the second leading cause of death for young people in Oklahoma. This website offers helpful resources on ways to prevent suicide in your school and community.

This online training uses virtual role-play simulations to prepare educators and school staff to recognize signs of distress, approach a student to address concerns, and, if necessary, refer the parent/student to appropriate resources. This is a free service provided by ODMHSAS. Training is available for ES, MS, and HS.

Following the suicide of one student and the attempted suicide of another, high school teacher Brittni Darras realized that just watching for the signs isn’t enough. But how do we begin to tackle such a complicated and insurmountable problem? The answer is surprisingly simple.

The Oklahoma State Department of Education has a variety of resources related to bullying available for teachers and staff. From lesson plans to interactive, virtual learning, bullying prevention can easily be incorporated into what you are already doing in the classroom.
